Sarvis was founded in 2019 by Grant Frank with the focus of pairing world-class investment opportunities with capital-ready partners. 

Sarvis works across multiple major oil and gas basins as well as in renewable energy identifying, acquiring, placing, and managing high-yield assets including, mineral and royalty, non-operated, wellbore, and operated interests.   

Since its inception, Sarvis has reviewed over $5.5B in assets resulting in the successful completion of transactions totaling more than $250mm in capital deployed.

Meet the Team

Grant Frank
Chief Executive Officer

  • Grant founded Sarvis in 2019 with the focus of leveraging years of industry, land, and business development experience in pairing private capital with direct investment opportunities.

    Prior to Sarvis, Grant managed business development for the Permian Basin and Rockies Region for Holland Services, a nationally recognized land services provider. While at Holland, Grant was an integral part of driving due diligence and land services of assets totaling over $5B in value, working alongside multiple private and public operators and energy investment funds. Grant managed various projects and teams from Fort Worth and Midland, Texas as well as Denver, Colorado.

    Prior to Holland Services, Grant managed technical sales for AquaMost, a water treatment, and infrastructure company. Grant started his career in the public sector focused on land use and conservation management working on both the state and federal levels with the U.S. Forest Service and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.  Grant has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College, located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Isabel Harper
Chief Operating Officer

  • Isabel joins the team with nearly ten years of Petroleum Geology and Management experience with an emphasis on resource delineation and optimization, asset development, economic evaluations, production analysis and data analytics. She has worked for large independent public operators across multiple active unconventional basins including but not limited to the Greater Permian, Denver-Julesburg, and Green River Basins.

    Isabel started her career with EOG Resources working the Permian Basin out of Midland, Texas. She has extensive experience encompassing all aspects of onshore oil and gas exploration and development, as well managing interdisciplinary teams, and collaborating with subject matter experts including operations, land, legal, engineering, environmental safety, and business development. Isabel has a BA in Environmental Science from Colorado College and holds a Master of Science in Geology and Geologic Energineering from Colorado School of Mines.

Grayson Viles
Vice President of Engineering

  • Grayson joins the team with over eleven years of Petroleum Engineering experience with an emphasis on reservoir engineering, asset development, economic evaluations, production analysis and data analytics. He has worked for large independent public operators across multiple active unconventional plays, including the Wolfcamp and Spraberry/Bone Spring trends in the Permian Basin, the Haynesville, Bakken, TMS and Eaglebine shales.

    Most recently Grayson was a reservoir engineer with Permian Resources and oversaw the deployment of over $800MM in capital, which led to asset production growing from 10,000 to over 26,000 net barrels of oil per day. Grayson also ran economic evaluations on more than 20 unique M&A opportunities ranging in size from $50mm to over $1 billion.

    Prior to Permian Resources, Grayson was a Reservoir Engineer for Encana Corporation working in various capacities on multidisciplinary asset development teams, reservoir characterization teams and on multiple business development teams. Additionally, Grayson provided SEC Reserves reporting at the asset level over a number of years. During his time there Grayson evaluated over $4 billion in acquisition opportunities. Grayson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma.

Reagan A.
land coordinator

    Reagan joined Sarvis in January 2024 as a Land Coordinator, bringing over seven years of industry experience. She has developed her expertise in both surface and mineral land as well as land administration in the Permian Basin and Rockies region through key roles at Centennial Resource Development and EOG Resources. Prior to joining Sarvis, Reagan managed extensive lease and mineral holdings across the Powder River Basin for EOG Resources.  While at Centennial Resource Development, Reagan held multiple positions, most recently as a Senior Surface Land Technician, where she specialized in the analysis and execution of various surface land documentation and data sets.

     An active member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen (AAPL) and the Denver Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL), Reagan holds a B.S. degree from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Harold “Ross” Smethills
Chief Financial Officer

  • Ross Smethills joined Sarvis in January 2022 and is the Chief Financial Officer. Ross’ responsibilities include business development, financial modeling, record keeping and accounting.

    Prior to Sarvis, Ross was an investment banker with Truist Securities (formerly SunTrust Robinson Humphrey) in their oil and gas M&A and coverage groups in Houston, Texas. Ross’ primary focus was on M&A / A&D and closed 15+ transactions with a combined value of over $1BN. Some of the M&A clients include CNX Resources, Lime Rock Resources, Apache Corp., Anschutz Exploration Corporation, Ring Energy, Viper Energy Partners, and Amplify Energy. Many of the transactions that Ross worked on were Non-Op divestments or contained a significant Non-Op component.

    Prior to Truist Securities, Ross was in the Finance Group at Sterling Ranch Development Company, one of the largest master-planned communities in the Denver Metro Area. Ross started his career as a Research Associate at World Steel Dynamics, a boutique research and consultancy specializing in the steel industry, located in the New York area. Ross has a BA in Economics from Pepperdine University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.

Gavin Smith
CPL – Vice President of Land

  • Gavin joins the Sarvis management team as VP of Land with nearly ten years of industry experience. Prior to joining Sarvis, Gavin held various land positions at EOG Resources and more recently at Centennial Resource Development. Gavin brings extensive knowledge of the Permian basin, both the Midland and Delaware, as well as the Barnett through his time residing in Fort Worth and Midland, Texas and Denver, Colorado.

    While at Centennial, Gavin oversaw operations and A&D activity for Centennial’s Southeast New Mexico position working closely with the Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico State Land Office, New Mexico Oil Conservation Division, and various other stakeholders. Additionally, Gavin cleared over 100 wells for development as well as completing multiple trades and acquisitions encompassing over 15,000 net acres leading to a 52% increase in the company’s overall position in New Mexico. Gavin started his career with EOG Resources where he was responsible for multiple acquisitions and divestitures throughout the companies Permian Basin acreage position including over $200 million in divestments in the Midland Basin alone.

    Gavin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Energy Management and minor in Finance from the University of Oklahoma.

Emily Humphries
Business manager

  • Emily Humphries joins the Sarvis team as Business Manager, with over 10 years of marketing and business management experience.

    Emily’s background in marketing is highlighted by her career with Sam’s Club, Walmart Inc. as Email Marketing Manager, in their eCommerce division based in Bentonville, Arkansas. Emily oversaw the production of all emails distributed by Sam’s Club, managed analytics and deliverability, and assisted in implementing email acquisition campaigns to increase overall membership.

    Following the move of her family to Midland, Texas, Emily shifted her career from email marketing into a Marketing and Business Management role with a privately held oil & gas company. Emily worked to increase company exposure through various marketing initiatives, along with providing day to day support for business operations.

    Emily holds a BA in Communications from The University of Arizona.
